My 10 favourite quotes from the book “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho

Uncategorized

1.  “Everyone seems to have a clear idea of how other people should lead their lives, but none about his or her own.” (18)

This is very true in today’s society, with more convenience gadgets that could bring us closer like social networks. We tends to interfere other’s life like our own. We express our opinions and feelings too freely without caring about other’s feeling.

2. “-that at a certain point in our lives, we lose control of what’s happening to us, and our lives become controlled by fate. That’s the world’s greatest lie.”  (20)

We, ourselves, are the one who control our life. Do not blame the fate or destiny that things happen in your life. Your life, you control it. Whatever that happened in your life, take note that you’re part of it and be responsible to your action.

3. “-everything in life has its price.” (27)

Nothing is free in this world. Everything has it consequences. People always expect something somehow in return. This is one of my life quote, it reminds me every time I’m about to do something.

4. “Treasure is uncovered by the force of flowing water, and it is buried by the same currents-” (27)

Time eventually reveals all things, no matter how “buried” they may be which include every words and every actions we have done. However, with the same thing that could uncover our treasure it could also bury something. Sometimes, something that is precious to us is lost through careless acts.

5. “You cannot trust a man if you don’t know his house.” (34)

House is consider to be a personal place for a man. It is where you live. Basically, its mean that you cannot trust a person if you don’t truly know them. This quote is really helpful, it reminds you not to trust anyone easily.

6. “-when you really want something, the universe always conspires in your favor” (39)

If you have a strong will, everything in life is possible. It is up to you to make it happen or not. When I feels like giving up, this quote helps me to get back again. It gives me strength and hope.

7. “I’m like everyone else–I see the world in terms of what I would like to see happen, not what actually does.” (43)

We all fool ourself sometimes. We like to see things the way we want not the way it is. Why? cause we cannot accept the truth. Even if it right in front of us we tend to look over it.

8. “-No matter how many detours and adjustments it made, the caravan moved toward the same compass point-” (77)

Never give up. No matter how many times you fall or thought of going back, don’t. Always get up and move on. It’s okay to arrive late than never. Whenever I want to give up or feel hopeless, this quote will give me strength.

9. “We are afraid of losing what we have, whether it’s our life or our possessions and property. But this fear evaporates when we understand that our life stories and the history of the world were written by the same hand.” (79)

We all made from dust and eventually when we die, we will go back to dust. It’s okay to fear but always remember that everything in life is uncertain. Don’t be afraid, live your life like it’s your last day.

10.“There is only one way to learn…It’s through action. Everything you need to know you have learned through your journey. (132)

Studying inside a school is just a part of your learning. The best way to learn something is through your experiences. You can read all the book in library but it can’t be compare to a real life experience.

Never Too Late

Is there a person you should’ve thanked, but never had the chance? Is there someone who helped you along the way without even realizing it? Here’s your chance to express your belated gratitude.

I grew up in a beautiful family. Never once I feels like I lost anything. My parents never let me starve. I’m really grateful to everyone in my life that makes me who I am today. I’m lucky to be me, to grew up in this family, to met such amazing friends, and to have a teacher who taught me how to behave.

I remembered when I was young my grandma always tell me how lucky I am. I didn’t realized that until I grow up actually see the world by myself. I have been to a lot of place and meet a lot of people. I didn’t know how lucky I am. I would like to thanks everyone that comes to my life, both good one and bad one. Without you guys, I wouldn’t be me today. Thanks to my family who raised me very well. Thanks to my friends who always be there for me. Thanks to all my teachers who are like my second parents. Thanks to a guy that broke my heart. Thanks to a friend that changed my perspective of this world. Those people taught me to grow up, to be mature, to be me. Remember when you’re young and you fell? Your parents would run to you ask you if you’re okay. Being a grown up is to get up, wiped your tears, and continue walking. I never had a chance to thanks anyone who came into my life. Actually while writing this, all my memories has pop up.

There are a lot of people I want to thanks and there will be more in the future. This is just the beginning to real world. I will meet many more people in my life. Be grateful for your life that God has gave you. Never left the words unspoken. Thanks to everyone now I have built a shield to protect myself.

Congrats! You’re the owner of a new time machine. The catch? It comes in two models, each traveling one way only: the past OR the future. Which do you choose, and why?

It would be really great to have a time machine. I believe there are many people who want to fix their past or go through their future. There are both advantage and disadvantage to time machine.

If I have a time machine, I would travel to the future. I do have some past that I want to fix but I think it’s better to just leave it there for you to learn and make sure to not commit the same mistake again. Let the past be your lesson. We have to move on from yesterday and looking for tomorrow. In fact, traveling to the future might be better. Who don’t want to know their future? If I could see my future-self and if there’s something I did wrong I could come back and makes it better. I’m the type of person who hates being uncertain. Everything has to go according to plan. I’m afraid of being disappointed. So if I could see my future I know what to expect and it will keep me from being disappoint. I wanted to know how the world in future would be. As much as I want to experience living in the past, I want to know how my friends and family are doing in the future. Will I get married and have a beautiful children? Will my parents live well and stay healthy? Although I want to know such things but sometimes I wish time machine is not exist or ever created.

If time machine is real, I don’t think the cost will be for everyone to afford it. It’s like paying to NASA for a trip to outer space. People would be hurting each other to get holds of time machine. So why don’t we forget about those stuff and live life the fullest, day-by-day just like we do now. Don’t worry about past or future as long as you did your best 🙂

What’s messier right now — your bedroom or you computer’s desktop (or your favorite device’s home screen)? Tell us how and why it got to that state.

There is this saying that a guy’s desktop is cleaner than a girl’s. I think that is true. Personally, I don’t like when my stuff get messy but sometimes you can’t help it. If I have times and in the mood to clean up during weekend I would definitely do it.

Actually my desktop is quite messy but since I paid a lot of attention to my wallpaper, I don’t want all the files to block a beautiful view of my wallpaper. I try to hide all the files into my document section. The surface is clean but you don’t know how messy it is inside. I tried to organised all the files but at least my desktop looks clean. So, technically, my desktop is cleaner than my bedroom. I traveled a lot these day because it’s a holiday season, my family and I love traveling. After our first trip we came back and go again after a week of staying home. I have to pack and unpack all the time so you can imagine how messy my room will be. After the first trip I already messed up my room because I need to pack. I don’t understand why every time I’m pack, my room gets really messy. Does that happen to others too? Because you need to find a dress and girls take long time to get dress not to mention when she have to ”pack” for a dress. That’s like double the time of girls getting ready. I always ended up with extra pair of clothes just in case we decided to stay longer but that case never happen. It’s better to be prepared right? My room is full of clothes. I have a big closet but I don’t think I have time to put my clothes in it. After laundry I would put all my clothes in a basket then placed it in my room promising myself that one day I will move it to the closet.

No matter how messy my bedroom is, I always find a time to clean it. The longest it took me to finally clean my room was two weeks. I try to be more organised now that I have a room of my own turns out it was the other way around. Screen Shot 2558-01-07 at 7.41.46 PM

In Due Time

What’s your next, most pressing deadline? Are you excited, stressed, or ambivalent about it? What’s the first thing you’d like to do once you’re done with it?

My most pressing deadline is what I’m doing right now and I think I quite enjoy it a little bit. I was told to make a journal on wordpress every week which I think it’s pretty cool. I like it at first but now I’m kind of stress because of it.

Doing it once a week is fine but things got misunderstood and I have to submit 20 journal entries to my teacher on Friday in a complete book form. Today is wednesday which means I have two days left to finish the journal and make it into a book. No pressure at all. I’m excited and stressed at the same time. I have about 3 journal entries left including this one. I just wish I could have more time to do it if only I knew it during my holiday break. So I could more time and effort to it. I don’t like rushing stuff especially stuffs that I cared about. This is nothing comparing to college and I’m enjoying it but I just wanted to it get it over with. I’m writing this during my chapel and I have two minutes before I have to go for World History. I’m running out of time and running out of words to write. If I finished this journal the first thing I’m going to do is to watch series. I have a lot of series to catch up. I know it’s bad to do it right now cause my school just opened but you know… once you start you can’t stop.

Honestly, I enjoyed making journal entries then I started to hate it because I have to write a lot but then while doing it I starts to like it again. It’s like a roller coaster; It went up then down then up again. However, I feels like there will more homework to do by the time I finished this and I have to move my series away again.

Ready, Set, Done!

Set a timer for ten minutes. Write without pause (and no edits!) until you’re out of time. Then, publish what you have (it’s your call whether or not to give the post a once-over).

Okay, since I don’t know what to write I’m going to write about my future, what I wanted it to be. I’m writing this on Wednesday, January 7 2015 9:47 AM. I have something I wanted to tell my friends but I can’t find a way to tell them. So I hope this would help me through it.

I decided to go to college early. I know this sounds weird but yeah… I was always my dream to study abroad. United kingdom was in my list so I consulted my parent about it and they agreed. So I started looking for college to apply and found out that I have to take foundation year first before I could actually go to college. My school curriculum was US but since I decided to study in UK, I need a UK education thats why I have to study foundation for IB education. I was giving up about studying in UK because it would takes me 5 years to finish college while my friends only take 4 years. Fortunately, I found out that it only takes 3 year to finish undergraduate or bachelor degree in the UK. More fortunate, you could go to foundation year right after you graduate 11th grade. So I decided to go after I graduate grade 11. I haven’t tell my friends about it yet because it’s not yet confirm and everything. I’m not sure if I will be able to go or not but I’m pretty sure I’m going. I don’t know how to tell my friends about it and when to tell them. This is a big step for me. I always stayed in a comfort zone and now I feels like I should get out of it.

I keep asking myself if this is really what I want but yes, I repeated for the 10th times, I wanted this. This is a way  I could grow up. This is a life experience that I would regret it if I do it the other way.

Waiting Room

Waiting Room

“Good things come to those who wait.” Do you agree? How long is it reasonable to wait for something you really want?

I agreed. Good things come to those who wait. I don’t think time matter but what matter is your appreciation to something you really want. What’s your moral in waiting, what did you get from waiting for it.

To be honest, I’m spoiled kid. I get everything I wanted, eventually. I know it’s bad but I think it’s too late to fix it but at least I know I was spoiled. Nowadays, if I want something I would try to save up my money to buy it. I feel bad to ask my mom because I asked for her money my whole life. Sometimes I have a thought that if my parent didn’t have me they would be richer. When I was young, as a little girl, of course you would want a barbie doll. There is this market where my mom always take me during weekends. I remember there’s a shop that sells barbie doll and cute clothes. I thought that shop is pretty cool and I went there a lot. I think I brought new clothes fro my barbie every time I went there. I spent money a lot, then one day, as usual I went to the shop and looking for new clothes for my barbie. I don’t know why but my mom said no to me. She refused to buy me a barbie clothes. I was really upset and confused so I cried and decided to sit down in front of a shop until my mom buy me a barbie clothes (told you I was a spoiled kid.) You might think my mom would feel bad and embarrassed and buy me a clothes. No, you’re wrong. She walked away. Like gone, she just walk away right after I sat down. I cried there for like two minutes and start looking for my mom. After I found her I never did that again because I’m afraid I might lost her.

Up until now I still didn’t learn how to wait for it but I do agreed with the quote. I guess when I grown up and finally making money of my own I would learn how to wait fro something you want and be grateful for what I have 🙂

Salad Days

Salad Days

Is there a period in your own personal life that you think of as the good old days? Tell us a story about those innocent and/or exciting times (or lack thereof).

I have lots of great period in my life that I cherish it. I would say I have a beautiful childhood. I spent a lot of times in my friend’s house when I was young because I used to live in a village where all the children are friends. When you’re young you don’t care if your friends are taller, smaller, older, or younger than you. All you care about is you can play together.

I wanted to be kids again. Those time are good old days. I don’t have to care about anything. The most stressful problem I faced was which of my friend’s house should I go tomorrow. I have a lots of friends. I actually learn how to ride a bike from my friends. My parent was busy so they don’t have time to play with me so I go out a lot. I used to have a guy friend, we went to kindergarten together until second grade. His name is ‘Pop’, he was my first guy best friend like bff. We have a lot in common or at least we think we were. He loved Power Puff Girl and so do I. We would alternate out visiting to watch Power puff girl like if I go to his place today, he’s coming to my place tomorrow. If it was now then my dad would kill me and we might actually go out but no. It was not like that kind of friendship. We were both young and I actually he’s day during that time. After that I moved school and I don’t really go out anymore because I went home late and I have to start focusing on my study (sounds funny for a 3rd grader lol). Eventually, we lost contact. I haven’t seen him since then. Actually if I remember where is his place I would go to him.

I have a lot of friends that I wish I could meet them again. I was really young during that time and Facebook was not invented. Those time gives you good memories that you could look back and laugh about it.

Grateful and Guilty

Whether it’s a trashy TV show, extra-pulpy fiction, or nutrient-free candy, write a thank-you note to your guiltiest guilty pleasure.

Dear, my guilty pleasure

First of all, I would like to thanks all my late night snacks for fullfilling the emptiness in my stomach and at the same time giving me tons of calories. Without you guys I wouldn’t finished American Horror Story aka trashy TV show.

I wouldn’t consider American Horror Story a trashy TV show but I feels like if Ms.Shiela watch it, she wouldn’t like it because it contained  curse words, adultery, nudity and including blood everywhere. It seems like a bad american series but trust me it’s good. Thanks to those snacks that helped me gained weight during holiday which I should be losing weight. Couldn’t thanks them enough. I finds myself eating a lot of candies and chocolate when I’m on my period. Thanks for always be there for me when I needed you. I used to have a snack in my school bag all the time in case I used all my money or starving for food. I don’t know why I like sweets so much. I’m not a big fan of ice cream but thanks for being there for me when I’m watching a romantic movie alone or crying on my bed because some guy broke my heart. Also, I would like to thank extra-pulpy fiction, Fifty shades of grey for giving me extra education I couldn’t learn in school but I prefer to not reading it again cause I feel like Ms. Shiela will yell at me if she knows I’m reading it. I don’t really eat chocolate but thanks to my lovely neighbours for giving a german chocolate to me, I enjoyed it a lot. I have a lots of great neighbour. They always gave me and my brother food maybe because we always order fast food when we’re home alone? anyway thanks to them I gained more weight than I have to. One time my neighbour cooked a blueberry cheese cake and gave it to my house. I ate dinner already but after I saw how yummy the cheese cake look, I couldn’t help myself.

So thanks to all my guilty pleasure especially those nutrient-free candy for keeping me company during late night. Without it, my life would be boring (but my body would be thinner, maybe?) I promised to keep eating late night snack just like they’ll always be there for me.

Calling Uncle Bob

Have you ever faced a difficult situation when you had to choose between sorting it out yourself, or asking someone else for an easy fix? What did you choose — and would you make the same choice today?

When I read this prompt, I have to think for a minutes searching for a difficult situation because I have so many of them. I don’t really go out a lot so I’m kind of awkward when I’m alone in public. I faced a lot of difficult yet funny situation at the same time. Usually are about daily life like, Where to purchase a rabbit card? or Where to pick up a reserved movie ticket? These are normal things and some might find it easy but I finds it hard.

I don’t really like communicating with people much. When I’m outside or needed help, I hate asking for direction or asking people anything. It’s not that I like to do things on my own but I just looking like a dummy asking people so I ended up doing things on my own. That was a thought I had up until recently. I don’t know what on my mind during that time but I traveled to South Korea and stayed there for one month, alone. I don’t know anyone there, I don’t have any friends with me. All I know was I wanted to go somewhere on my own and try living alone. That’s the time I realised I should change my shy-dummy behaviour. I asked for a wifi router in my apartment but I don’t know how to install it. I could easily ask a guy downstair in my apartment for help but like I said, I hate asking people. So I decided to install it myself. It took me about fifteen minutes to installed until I realised there’s a instruction at the back of the box, silly me.

I was told that you should never relied on someone, always do it yourself which why I find it hard to approach people first. It’s a good thing that I depend on myself but sometimes it’s okay to be stupid for a second than to be stupid forever 🙂
